Product Overview
It's the Jammer, baby! The Jammer is a high-volume, rackless, handlebar/saddle bag that will carry all the necessities for long day rides or runs around town. It can also function seamlessly as a component of your touring or bikepacking outfit - this is a super versatile bag! While the Jammer doesn't require a rack, it can benefit from the support and extra security in certain setups, especially if tire clearance is tight. No rules! Mount it how you want and make it your own!
We carry all three sizes of the Jammer Bag: the standard Jammer Bag, the Middle Earth and the Jumbo Jammer. The Middle Earth is identical to the Jumbo Jammer in depth and height but is 2" narrower, allowing attachment to a wider range of handlebars. The Jumbo or Middle Earth could easily be the main component of your bikepacking setup with plenty of space for gear. The standard Jammer is a perfect size for your everyday carry-all.
The Jammer maxes out at approximately 9.75 liters (or one dozen 12oz beverage cans) and features an internal stiffener to provide additional structure. The rolltop closure and unique 4-point strapping system easily locks down loads less than half that volume. The strapping system is especially solid when the closure straps are looped over the handlebar. See the setup video below for the method and don't be scared off by Rat's dance moves.
While the Jammer can be mounted as a saddlebag (recommended for light-duty, on-road use only) if your saddle has the traditional bag attachment loops, we really like it best as a handlebar bag. The quick access via the rolltop closure, secure compression and handy front pockets provide optimal storage and organization for all the essentials. Some kind of bag support helps a lot for stability when using the Jammer as a saddlebag. Want to use this bag underseat but don't ride a saddle with built-in loops? Pick up the Restuvus from Hobo Pieces and haul away!
Road Runner builds these bags from an abrasion-resistant, dirt-shedding Cordura shell with a seam-taped floating liner for reliable waterproofing when the closure is properly rolled. The single main pocket provides ample space for the bulky stuff while the slim front pockets deliver useful organization for small items you want close at hand. A 3M reflective patch on the pocket flap adds visibility.
Fit Notes
As the Jammer is usually attached to your handlebars and either the head tube or fork crown, the angle of the bag will vary with your cockpit arrangement. Bikes with longer stems and steeper head tube angles will wind up with the bag facing more forward than up. Two strap placement options (approx. 4.5 or 7.5" apart) allow for attachment to a wide variety of handlebar shapes. We've found they work best on wide-ish or flared drop bars (like Salsa's Cowchipper or the Nitto Noodle) or MTB-style flat/riser bars (like Surly's Cheater Bar or Sunrise Bar).
