Shipping, Returns and Warranty

SHIPPING

*Please note that the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and associated disruptions may result in longer shipping times, especially for international orders.  Please be patient and allow extra shipping time for your order!

Orders over $100.00 shipping within the contiguous US will allow a Free Shipping option at checkout.  Certain oversized items (fender sets, many racks, etc) do not qualify for free shipping.  These items will either have a flat shipping rate applied or will be billed at regular rates.

Orders placed before 2pm (mountain time) typically ship via USPS the same day (M-F).  Orders placed after 2pm or via another carrier (UPS, FedEx) will typically ship the next business day.  Custom or special order items will take longer and we will communicate with you regarding the estimated shipping date.  If your order will be delayed for any reason we will contact you promptly to discuss when you can expect it. 

We ship most items via USPS, occasionally via UPS and FedEx. You will be shown the shipping options and prices on the checkout page before you finalize your order.  If your order qualifies for free shipping we will use the most cost effective method.

International Shipping

We use the United States Postal Service to ship international orders.  While usually highly reliable, international shipping comes with a unique set of costs and risks.

Once the package leaves the borders of the United States we are often unable to track it accurately.  You may be able to track the package through the carrier in your country.  Also, there is no way for us to calculate duties, taxes and delivery charges your country may impose or anticipate whether a package will be opened for inspection.  Packages will often go through customs without being opened or charged additional fees, but please be aware that you may need to pay more than our quoted shipping costs to receive your order and that your package may be opened officially.

Transit times can vary widely.  In certain cases, international shipments can take several weeks to reach their destination.  Be prepared for prolonged transit times and order well in advance of the date you will need your items.  Bike Touring News cannot guarantee delivery dates for international shipments and we are not liable for shipments that are lost, damaged or delayed. 

The flat-rate shipping applied to some of the oversized items listed above (wheels, racks, certain handlebars, etc.) can sometimes create problems when calculating international shipping.  Please contact us for a shipping quote if you're seeing an error message upon checkout.  Please note that shipping charges for oversized items can be very high.  There are also particular types/sizes of items that we are unable to ship internationally. 

Packaging Practices

We take great care in packing orders to ensure safe arrival of the contents.  However, Bike Touring News cannot be held liable for loss or damage incurred in transit.  Claims for lost or damaged shipments should be placed with the carrier.

We re-use packing materials (boxes, packing paper, bubble wrap, etc) whenever possible to reduce waste and save our customers money on shipping.  Please re-use or repurpose those packing materials if you're able.  We also strive to use easily recycled materials as much as possible.  Cardboard and packing paper are easy to recycle in most areas.  Plastic film, polybags, etc are recyclable in some areas.  Please check with your local waste management agency before sending those items to the landfill. 

Freight Forwarding Services

It is our policy to ship only to a customer's home or work address.  We can also ship to USPS offices, domestic FedEx or UPS retail locations if needed.  We reserve the right to cancel any order shipping to a freight forwarding service due to high rates of fraud.  If you plan to use a freight forwarding service please contact us prior to placing your order to avoid delays or cancellation!

In-Store Pickup

If you live near our Boise, Idaho showroom you are welcome to order online for in-store pickup.  Simply select that option upon checkout.  We will contact you via phone first and email second when your order is ready to be picked up.  Keep in mind that we stock many items (repair parts, etc) that are not listed online.  If you aren't seeing what you're looking for just call or email and we'll get you hooked up.

RETURNS

To initiate a return, you may request a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) online if you have a registered account.  You may also contact us via email (info@biketouringnews.com) or by phone (866-936-3176).  Please do not return items without first obtaining authorization.  Items returned without prior approval may not be eligible for a refund. 

We accept returns on new, unused items for 60 days after the date the order was placed. We reserve the right to deny a return for clearance items, special order items or items we don't normally sell.  We are a small business, not a giant discount warehouse.  Refunds may be issued to the card/account you used on your order or in the form of store credit.  We also have a special return policy for saddles, our 90-Day Comfort Guarantee.  Follow the link for details.

We will cover return shipping costs in situations involving a defective product or an error on our part.  If the item was ordered by mistake or you simply don't want it then we'll kindly ask that you pay for return shipping.  Returns should include all original packaging, instructions/manuals, small parts and/or hardware in order to receive a full refund.  We may issue a partial refund at our sole discretion if your item has been used, is missing packaging, hardware, small parts, etc.  Refunds will be issued upon receipt and inspection of returned items by Bike Touring News.

 

WARRANTY + GUARANTEE

Most of the products we sell are covered by a manufacturer's warranty which will vary from brand to brand.  We strive to note warranty information on product pages but feel free to ask about warranty coverage for a given product before you buy.  Please contact us first in any potential warranty situation so we can be aware of the problem and help facilitate the resolution.  Damage due to abuse, neglect, improper installation, modification etc. will not be covered under any warranty.
