While you can use any fly you like with your tenkara rod, traditional reverse-hackle tenkara flies (or sakasa kebari) are incredibly versatile and undeniably effective. These are the tenkara flies used by Dr. Hisao Ishigaki, leading authority on tenkara in Japan. For the last 10 years, Dr. Ishigaki has used this one tenkara fly pattern exclusively and has continued catching as many fish as he ever did.
