The Ranger is our go-to plus tire for a wide range of conditions. The tightly-spaced center knobs roll along quickly on hardpacked dirt, gravel or pavement but have plenty of bite for when things get loose. As you lean the tire over, the widely spaced intermediate knobs provide tenacious grip as you transition to the tight, alternately exposed corner knobs that really hook into the dirt.
These tires are at their best running tubeless on rims with an inner width of 40 or 45mm, such as WTB's own Scraper or the Alex MD40 that comes on most current Surly plus-tired bikes. We prefer Orange Seal sealant for its quick sealing, long life and lack of funky, acrid odors.
